Death toll in China quake nears 12,000

DUJIANGYAN, China - Rescue workers are digging through flattened homes and schools in a desperate search for victims of China's worst earthquake in three decades. Authorities say nearly 12,000 people were killed and more than 18,000 are missing. The official Xinhua News Agency says Chinese rescue workers report that 18,645 people remain buried under debris in Mianyang city. Mianyang neighbors the epicenter of Monday's massive, 7.9-magnitude quake. Xinhua said that 3,629 people have been confirmed dead in Mianyang. It was not clear if those figures are included in the official death toll of 11,921 so far.

Lamp shades

Do you know that one of the important things in the house is the lamp? Lamps are the things that makes your house brighter and beautiful, not only in the house but also in the office, schools, conference rooms and many more. As I mentioned earlier, that we just started constructing our house in the Philippines two months ago. Hubby asked me last week that I need to make up my mind which lamp we are going to use in our living room. The workers have done the slab, electrical and the plumbing installation. So hubby and I were talking about which lamps we are going to install in our bedroom. I told him that I need lamps and lamp shades in the side table of our bed. Also, I asked him to put in a table lamps in our living room and I am lucky because hubby is always follow what I want in the house even a walk in wardrobe; he was agreed that I can have a walk in wardrobe in our bedroom. We hired an architect to supervise the building of our house, he sent us the copy of the different tiles for the floor and I chose the best tiles and hubby likes it. I also told to our architect that he should make sure that the there should be a floor lamps to make the house beautiful.

I need a money

Cash is tight for me at the moment; I really need to send more money to my homeland for some reason. I need to get cash desperately but my payday is still long time to wait. I know that my money problem is not a worried because credit card is the option. Also it seems that our cash budget for our house in the Philippines is not enough so what I am trying to do is to get a loan so I can help my husband for our house construction in the Philippines. I know that getting loan is not a problem for me because I don’t have a bad credit.  I seemed that I am not the only person who got a money problem at this time. I heard from a friend of mine that they are decided to get a mortgage. They have been renting a flat for 5 years now and they are thinking that why renting a house that cost them a fortune than buying a house. When you are renting you know that the house will never be yours but if you have a mortgage even though it will take time to buy eventually it will be yours and investment.

Charities in the UK

The UK has many charities, as far as I know the UK is the biggest collector for charities in the world, such as  children in need, disabled children, children with learning difficulties, Great Ormond street children’s hospital for children with burns and cancer, there are even charities for animals.

Talking about charity, one of my colleagues ran the London marathon, last week; he ran 26 miles and finished in 5 hours and 15 minutes. There are many people who ran a the marathon, for charity, my colleague, who ran the marathon, sponsored a charity. What we do ask people to sponsor you for the marathon or any other event, such as swimming in the Antarctic Ocean, jumping from a plane or other things for charity.  Its good that there are people who want to help other people.

My son has got the chickenfox

I mentioned from my previous entry that Joel wasn’t feeling well. He had fever last weekend but he felt better on the weekdays. When hubby changed the nappy of my son Joel this afternoon, he noticed that there are many red spots on his skin. We were panicked and rang the surgery to book an appointment to see the Doctor. Luckily, we fitted in at quarter past three to see the Doctor. Hubby and I supposed to go out for our wedding anniversary dinner but we postponed our dinner until we know that my son Joel will be ok. The Doctor said that my son has got the chickenfox. But as you know there is no medicine that can cured the chickenfox, it only goes on its own.  The Doctor prescribed my son Joel a Calamine lotion to help from itchy. I just hope that Joel will be ok soon.

YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE

You are My Sunshine, My only Sunshine' (Be prepared to
get watery eyes!)

Like any good mother, when Karen found out that another baby was on the way, she did what she could to
help her 3-year-old son, Michael, prepare for a new sibling. They found out that the new baby was going be a girl, and day after day, night after night, Michael sang to his sister in mommy's tummy. He was building a bond of love with his little sister before he even met her. The pregnancy progressed normally for Karen, an active member of the Panther Creek United Methodist Church in Morristown , Tennessee .

In time, the labuor pains came. Soon it was every
five minutes, every three, every minute. But serious complications arose during delivery and Karen found herself in hours of labuor. Would a C-section be required? Finally, after a long struggle, Michael's little sister was born. But she was in very serious condition.
With a siren howling in the night, the ambulance rushed the infant to the neonatal intensive care unit at St. Mary's Hospital,
Knoxville , Tennessee. The days inched by. The little girl got worse. The pediatrician had to tell the parents there is very little hope. Be prepared for the worst. Karen and her husband contacted a local cemetery about a burial plot. They had fixed up a special room in their house for their new baby but now they found themselves having to plan for a funeral. Michael, however, kept begging his parents to let him see his sister. I want to sing to her, he kept saying. Week two in intensive care looked as if a funeral would come before the week
was over.

Michael kept nagging about singing to his sister, but kids are never allowed in Intensive Care. Karen decided to take Michael whether they liked it or not.
If he didn't see his sister right then, he may never see her alive. She dressed him in an oversized scrub
suit and marched him into ICU. He looked like a walking laundry basket.

The head nurse recognized him as a child and
bellowed, 'Get that kid out of here now. No children are allowed.' The mother rose up strong in Karen, and
the usually mild-mannered lady glared steel-eyed right into the head nurse's face, her lips a firm line. 'He is not leaving until he sings to his sister' she stated. Then Karen towed Michael to his sister's bedside.

He gazed at the tiny infant losing the battle to
live. After a moment, he began to sing. In the pure-hearted voice of a 3-year-old, Michael sang: 'You are my sunshine, my only sun shine, you make me happy when skies are gray.' Instantly the baby girl seemed to respond. The pulse rate began to calm down and become steady. 'Keep on singing, Michael,' encouraged
Karen with tears in her eyes. 'You never know, dear,
how much I love you, please don't take my sunshine away.' As Michael sang to his sister, the baby's ragged, strained breathing became as smooth as a kitten's purr. 'Keep on singing, sweetheart.' 'The other night, dear, as I lay sleeping, I dreamed I held you in my arms'. Michael's little sister began to relax as rest, healing rest, seemed to sweep over her.
'Keep on singing, Michael.' Tears had now conquered
the face of the bossy head nurse. Karen glowed. 'You are my sunshine , my only sunshine. Please don't take my sunshine away...'

The next day...the very next day...the little girl was
well enough to go home. Woman's Day Magazine called it The Miracle of a Brother's Song. The medical staff just called it a miracle. Karen called it a miracle of God's love.

NEVER GIVE UP ON THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE.

LOVE IS SO INCREDIBLY POWERFUL.
Life is good.

Saturday Day –out

We spent our Saturday just very simple. We went out for our lunch at Thai food in Harrow. The food was really tasty and even my mom liked the food and I was so happy because it is very difficult to find the food for my mom that she eat. Hubby and I are eating English food in the house and when I ask my mom if she eat what we eat, she always said NO even she haven’t taste the food yet. She cooks her food but it’s not healthy not like the food that we eat. This afternoon, I was so pleased that she ate the food at Thai restaurant. After we had lunch, we went to the shops while hubby went to have his haircut. Then, we didn’t stay long at the shops. We met up hubby at the pub and we went home because Joel wasn’t feeling well. He has a temperature two days now and his teething. At the front of his gum tooth is coming through that makes him so poorly. I just hope that he will be fine tomorrow or else if he still has temperature I will take him to the Doctor. Poor lil boy!

We were ripped off

I am so gutted today. I sent a text to my brother to check if everything’s alright. Since my mother is here with me my brother is the responsible of everything such as allowances, paying bills and everything. Last 2006, we bought a land in the Philippines and 1 month ago the construction of the house started. So we sent some money to my brother and rely on him on the house materials, wages for the worker, municipal permit and the Sta. Lucia permit. He did quite well in his job. We bought the land and my mother who was responsible of paper works when she was there. She didn’t know whom to ask regarding  changing of Title from the previous owner to my name. So she asked someone who is working from the Municipality and there was a man who is the Secretary of the Vice Mayor who volunteered to do the works in changing the Title but until now the Title is still not change. When we were there last December, he promised to us that he will finished the Title as soon as possible. He had so many reasons, why he didn’t get the Title that need to be changed.blah..blah..blah. I don’t know of all the people in Cordova why my mother took the wrong one. I blamed all this to my mother because she didn’t even ask for the receipt. She gave him a 37,000.00 pesos for changing the Title and as what my friend said it doesn’t cost that much. We can’t really force him to do his job because we don’t have any proof that we paid him 37,000.00 pesos. When my brother followed up him today, do you know what he said the same answer “NO”? What a horrible man he is. (grr..)
